Dry Tea Leaves (Darjeeling Margarets Hope Tea)
According to Margaret’s Hope Darjeeling, this tea is prepared with special section/area AV2 clonal tea leaves. Each tea garden has a best or quality tea leaves growing area and this Margaret’s Hope Darjeeling Tea has been picked from the finest clonal growing section. A lot of labor has been put by the women tea pickers of Margaret’s Hope Tea Garden and thanks to them for making this tea possible. This “Black Diamond” has an overall attractive bloom with a definite luster which are fairly larger in size than the normal classic graded Darjeeling Tea. It has elongated leaves, wiry with dark yellowish and chocolate brown color. There is HUGE abundance of silver and golden tips, quite remarkably handled during processing. The yellowish color are mainly that of the golden buds. It has a rich smell which seemingly bears similarity to that of a complex mixture of chocolate, mint and fresh fruits. The nutty/almond like aroma is also worth mentioning here. Fruity all the way!

Infusion or Wet Tea leaves (Margaret’s Hope Second Flush Tea)
The infused tea leaves of this Margarets Hope Second Flush Tea beautifully opens up and occupies quite a space on the inverted lid of the tea tasting cup. The infused leaf size depicts the original size of the tea leaf. This Black Diamond Darjeeling has a lively brown/coppery overall infusion with the golden and silver tips/buds turning pale yellow in color. One leaf and a bud is quite visible. It has a sweet fragrance with slight hints of lemon. It also has a nutty character which comes coated with the complexity of different fruits, rather complex set of underlying fruity tones.
Cup or Liquor characteristics (Margaret’s Hope Darjeeling)
This Margaret’s Hope Darjeeling has quite a full bodied cup, turning dark reddish in color, but not as strong as their chinary teas which are of course smaller in size. Classic Darjeelings always bear that tiny size china styled leaves, but opposed to it, and being a clonal, this tea has a light and bright golden/red brew and the tea leaves are much much larger in size. The cup has a bright liquor and the tea is brisk. It has an instant sweetness that fills the mouth while sipping. It lends a marvelous nutty character with complex and overwhelming undertones of complex set of fruitiness, reminiscent of ripe apples and pineapple dominating.
This Margaret’s Hope Darjeeling is one of the highest grade 2023 Second Flush tea Margaret’s Hope has produced this Second Flush. Seriously, we advise all tea connoisseurs to try this tea and experience what a high grade Darjeeling tastes like. We guarantee you that it will be worth every penny you spend. Taste the Black Diamond and know for yourselves!

Just enjoyed a couple of weeks of this masterpiece. Light but definitely muscatel flavour. Just finished the latest pot and it really is exceptional. I am so happy I discovered Thunderbolt tea.

I’ve drunk it a few times, but it’s citrusy, and like the scent of flowers bursts, it lasts longer than airy, and it’s nutty and sweet. It’s like a first flush. I hope you try it

A bit lighter in oxidation than the other second flush teas I’ve sampled. Beautifully assembled layers of complexity and a penetrating sweetness. Very nice.
