Situated at an elevation ranging from 3,500 to 6,000 feet (1,100 to 1,800 m) above mean sea level, this expansive bio-organic garden spans 347.26 hectares (858.1 acres) and specializes in the production of high-quality black tea. The garden’s rich history traces back to the British era, with the old Chinary bushes planted by them still contributing to the annual yield of 110,000 kg of tea. To ensure the garden’s sustainability, a systematic rejuvenation process is implemented, replacing 2% of the Chinary bushes each year. Dry Tea Leaves (Orange Valley Tea)
The dry Orange Valley Tea leaves are well rolled and twisted in nature. It has an overall chocolate brown appearance with considerable amount of silver tips showing signs of high quality manufacture with the preservation of good look and flavor. It has a mild sweetness with an overwhelming warm chocolate like aroma. The caramellike aroma comes packed with other complex fruity notes which results in a pleasing aroma that fills the mind with warmth and a longing for a second cup of this tea. The nutty characteristics cannot be avoided here. This is a perfect example of a classic quality Darjeeling Second Flush tea.
Infusion or Wet Tea leaves (Orange Valley Darjeeling Tea)
This Orange Valley Darjeeling tea has an overall coppery infusion which seems even in nature. The mixture of light and dark brown leaves are bright with an inherent character of rich smell that is highly complex, leading more towards fruity and flowery characteristics. It also has light nutty aroma which is accompanied by a small degree of sweetness like that of Indian jaggery.

It has a heavier strength compared to clonals since it’s a chinary varietal, but doesn’t lack in briskness. In fact the brisk or lively taste is very much prominent. The cup of this Orange Valley Tea Estate Second Flush tends towards reddish-orange color which can be tagged as coppery. Brewing this for a complete 5 minutes time can make this cup a bit bitter; try brewing for 3 minutes and try it. Of course you can try different time settings. It has mild biscuity taste with exceptional quality flavor or undertones of caramel, fruits and nuts. It is full bodied and mellow.
