About Organic Darjeeling Tea

Organic Darjeeling Tea farming has now become a standard way of tea cultivation. Some tea gardens are fully certified organic and some are under conversion. Darjeeling has come a long way since the Britons planted the first tea seed in Darjeeling. A tremendous history is embedded through the cultivation of Darjeeling Tea, making a bond between nature, people and the planet as a whole. In the midst, people took to harmful and artificial chemicals for production, but soon realized the cost of using which impacted all.

Tea gardens use compost such as cow dung and biomass where Leguminous plants are grown to fix nitrogen for use by the plant, thus enhancing soil nourishment. To ward off pests, Organic Darjeeling Tea gardens now use herbal and natural bark paste sprays. Weeds are further taken care of by cutting it and now removing it which results in less of soil erosion.

Mulching benefits in organic Darjeeling Tea farming

Mulching is lopping of vegetal matter or leftovers in the garden or organic compost (made of cow dung), spread in between the tea plants, acting as a blanket on the ground. The mulch shields from excessive rain and protects the soil from erosion. It inhibits the growth of weed, but does not kill it, resulting in the preservation of ground flora and reducing costs in weeding. During a dry spell, the ground cover prevents evaporation of soil moisture and helps tea cope up with the situation. And lastly, the decomposition of this mulch converts it to soil, high in humus and rich in fertility, further adding bonus to the organic Darjeeling Tea cultivation.

The organic farming method has improved the overall environment between soil, people, earth and and not to forget the enhanced quality of Darjeeling Organic Tea. We have noticed that organically grown and manufacture tea has exceptional cup quality which may be the output of the alchemical miracle, the use of cow dung manure.
