DARJEELING OOLONG TEA

Darjeeling Oolong Tea was rare a few years ago since Darjeeling only produced black teas. With the clonal varieties such as AV2 getting wider acceptance and demand, most of the tea gardens have started to venture into this. For instance, Castleton Moonlight was a pure Darjeeling Oolong Tea, but with the seasonal make, the tea makers decided that the First Flush Moonlight be made more in the White Tea fashion and Second Flush Moonlight more in the Oolong fashion. Below you will find one of the best Darjeeling Oolong Tea varieties. Take a look!

A Bit about Darjeeling Oolong Tea

Yes, as all oolongs, Darjeeling Oolong Tea is also made in the same manner, semi oxidized, but doesn't compare with oolong teas produced in other parts of the world. Darjeeling Tea is highly dependent on its season or the period when the tea was produced. Meaning, Darjeeling Oolong Tea produced during different tea seasons will have different characteristics whether be it, taste, cup strength and color or aroma.

A Darjeeling Oolong Tea got from First Flush will have a weaker cup compared to other flushes and will tend towards more of a floral profile. While Second Flush Darjeeling Oolong Tea will be more full bodied and fruity in nature. It does not withstand the number of multiple infusions as other oolongs do and can be steeped for a minimum amount, say around three, but you can experiment - take a look at a post we have done on "How to make Darjeeling".

Apart from oolongs we have various hand picked teas got from various tea seasons. Do check it out!
